"How Can You, Being Evil, Speak Good Things?"

Series: Questions Jesus Asked

Jesus performed an abundance of various miracles which were all proof of his God-given ____________!  Yet, in one instance noted in Matthew 12, some of the Jews attempted to argue the miracles of Jesus were not the result
of God's power, but ___________'s.  In order to pick apart their illogical argument, Jesus spends some time pointing out how foolish it would be for Satan to oppose himself by casting out one of his own ____________ (12:22-26).
Connected to this argument, Jesus also later argues, "Either make the tree good and its fruit good, or else make the tree bad and its fruit bad; for a tree is known by its fruit" (Matthew 12:33).

Directly following this statement, Jesus says to his accusers, "Brood of vipers!  How can you, being evil, speak good things?" (Matthew 12:34).  As Jesus makes this statement, He is turning the tables on his venomous accusers.  While we should apply this text to its immediate context, we should also consider the principles Jesus lays down in this text as we consider our own __________.
