"Why do you look at the speck?"
Series: Questions Jesus AskedOne of the most well-known verses in the Bible comes from Matthew 7:1 where Jesus says, “Judge not, that you be not judged.” Unfortunately, the context following this statement is not as well-known as the text itself.
Some would have us to believe this verse is a blanket condemnation of any type of judgment in any type of situation. This conclusion is erroneous. So, let’s look at the broader context of this passage and New Testament teaching. In doing so, we will notice Jesus says a lot more about judging than “judge not.” He asks two great questions and lays down two great principles as He expands on the topic.
