"Man, Who Made Me a Judge Over You?
Series: Questions Jesus AskedIntroduction: In the text of Luke 1213-15, we come across a little nugget of wisdom from Jesus that is both practical for daily life and valuable for eternity. The New King James Version reads,
“Then one from the crowd said to Him, ‘Teacher, tell my brother to divide the inheritance with me.’ But He said to him, ‘Man, who made Me a judge or an arbitrator over you?’ And He said to them, ‘Take heed and beware of covetousness, for one’s life does not consist in the abundance of the things which he possesses.”
Let’s consider three simple lessons we learn from these three simple verses.
I. The Danger of _____________________
II. Mind Your Own ___________________
III. Realize the Root of ________________
Conclusion: As we mature in our faith and in the daily living of being a Christian, may we rise above the ___________ of our world. May the Lord show us the wisdom of walking away from the temptation of being a _________________ and a counselor to someone else’s private affairs. Most importantly, may we be people not addicted to _________________, but to encouraging __________ among one another as we change men’s hearts to be in tune with eternity (Matthew 7:13-14; Colossians 3:1-5).
