Making the Right Investments
Introduction: In Matthew 6, Jesus introduces two areas in which we can "lay up" our treasures. Today, let's think for a while, on a spiritual level, about "Making the Right Investments."
(underlined portions below were blank in printed outline)
I. We Choose the Nature of Our Investments (6:19-20)
- They can be destroyed.
- Or, they can be stolen.
II. Any Investment Requires Sacrifice and Self-Control (6:24)
III. The ____________ of an Investment is Seen In Its ____________ (6:20)
IV. Investment Will Lead To __________ __________ (6:21)
Conclusion: Ask yourself: am I invested in God's kingdom work? What fruits indicate the degree and proof of my investment?
"Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; but lay up for yourselves treasure in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also" (Matthew 6:19-21)
