Q & A

Introduction:  In tonight's lesson we will be answering Bible questions brought forth by our own members in 5-7 minutes as we seek to be "rightly dividing the word of truth." (2 Timothy 2:15)

Question 1 :  "The Bible teaches that we are to lay by in store on the first day of the week.  For those who are paid on a bi-weekly or monthly basis, is it okay for them to forego this command and only give as often as they are paid?  I have always felt that every week means every week, not once or twice a month.  Besides it being one of God’s commands, it is also an issue of example for others to follow.  Consider a visitor in our midst observing the collection plate being passed over by members after hearing from the table that it is commanded of members to give on each first day of the week.”

Question 2a:  I would like to know the REAL truth about what the Bible teaches are qualifications for serving as an elder in our church. Namely, my confusion is about the wording of "children" (plural) as opposed to "child" (singular).

Question 2b:  What does the Bible have to say about the requirements of being an elder, specifically when it comes to a man’s child or children being faithful?  Does Titus 1:6 require an elder’s child(ren) to be faithful even after he/she is an adult and has left the home?

Question 3:  “So, lately someone brought up the idea that in a divorce both parties can re-marry, whether its the guilty or innocent person. Was wondering what you think on that, and if you have any info on that topic?”

Question 4:   In Job 1-2, we see God giving Satan permission to impact Job’s life through three methods: acts of nature, actions of people, and physical illness. In our lives today, does Satan still have the ability to control/use all of these methods to bring us harm, and if so, does he need God’s permission to do so?

Question 5:   Where did God/Satan come from?

Question 6:  "Luke 23:43.... If Jesus was not telling the thief that he would be in heaven or paradise on that very day, what was He telling him?”
