Promises and Lies

Introduction:

(Underlined portions below where left blank in printed outline)

There are real, unshakable promises that God has made to those who are willing to follow Him.  They stand in contrast to the crafty lies of the devil & those lies are designed to cause us to doubt the wonderful assurances that come from God.

I.  Promise #1:  I am the God most high, there is none greater (Gen. 1:1, Exodus 3:14; Isa. 46:9-11; John 14:6; Heb. 11:6)

Lie #1:  "You are the center of your own universe, you need to get what you can in this life"  (Matt. 4:1-11; Rom. 1:24-25; 1 Tim. 5:8; James 3:16; Phil. 2:1-5; Acts 4:12)

II.  Promise #2:  I will never leave you or forsake you  (He. 13:5-6; Josh. 1:5; 1 Chron. 28:20; Ps. 118:6; Matt. 28:20)

Lie #2:  You are on your own, sometimes, to take care of things  (1 Kings 19:1-4, 9-10; Job 2:7-10; Num. 14:1-5; Matt. 17:1-5)

III.  Promise #3:  All who are righteous will persecuted  (2 Tim. 3:10-12; Matt. 10:22; John 16:33)

Lie #3:  If God is in control and He's allowing you to suffer, then He cares more about his own glory than he does about you."  (1 Pet. 1:3_9; Matt. 5:10-12; 2 Tim. 2:8-12; Job 1:10-12. 16, 20-21)

IV.  Promise #4:  No one can take away your salvation (John 10:28-29; Rom. 8:38-39; John 5:24)

Lie #4:  "You will not surely die"  (Gen. 3:4-5' Heb. 10:26-28; 2 Tim. 2:24-26; Eph. 2:1-6)
