Have No Other Gods Before Me
God is like no other being we will ever know. We teach our children this from a young age. There is nothing He does not know. There is nothing that He cannot do. We struggle to wrap our minds around the fact that He is eternal -- He has no beginning and no end..how is that possible?? Yet, as we are clearly able to perceive that He exists (Rom. 1:20) and we're able to know all of these amazing things about Him, why was it still necessary for Him to have to tell us to have no other gods before Him? Why would HIs people ever look to other inferior things as a place that they would give thier honor, or glory or devotion? Why would such an awesome God need to actually say, "Put me first -- don't worship something else?" Do We still do this today?
